Ryan Babel says he is confident that Liverpool will win FA Cup

Self-confessed Liverpool fan and the Dutch midfielder Ryan Babel says that he is confident that Liverpool can end the season with the FA Cup trophy under their belt.

He says that the motivation of sending of Steven Gerrard with an FA Cup medal will be a huge draw for the players. After failing to progress past the last 16 of the Europa League, Liverpool are left with only two ambitions for the rest of the campaign. This involves being in the top four at the end of the league campaign and possibly winning the FA Cup.

Since the last FA Cup victory back in 2006, Liverpool have not reached the final of the competition. Gerrard was a major part in helping the club secured the title back in 2006 after an inspirational performance against West Ham in the final. Now, Babel believes that it is the turn of Liverpool players to produce an inspirational performance to help the captain win the title on his 35th birthday. Babel spent only four seasons at Anfield, but the impeccable support of the club appears to have made him one of their fans. Since 2015 began, Liverpool have been the team to beat in the Premier League.

“They have looked very good in the last few weeks and have much more confidence than before. There’s still a good chance of ending in the top four and, knowing it will be Gerrard’s last possibility to win a trophy for Liverpool, I am sure the team want to push hard to make sure they end up with one.Given their spirit and how Liverpool have always lived for football, I’m sure they’ll give their all. I think there is a generation who cannot imagine Liverpool without Steven Gerrard, but we also know a football player’s career is not very long,” said Babel.
