Cenk Tosun speaks on the futures of Davy Klaassen and Ryan Babel

Everton striker Cenk Tosun has stressed that teammate Day Klaassen has now ambition of heading to Besiktas during the ongoing transfer window. The Dutchman has been linked with a potential move away from Goodison Park after an unfruitful first season but Tosun has dismissed the prospect of him making the move to Istanbul.

Speaking to Turkish outlet Sabah, Tosun confirmed that he had spoken to Klaassen regarding the same but the response was negative, he said: “Klaassen is a very good football player and I asked him if he would come to Besiktas. But he replied ‘I do not think Turkey.’ The subject was closed from the start.”

Meanwhile, Tosun was also asked to comment on former Besiktas teammate Ryan Babel who has been linked with a potential move to Brazil. Babel and Tosun shared a close camaraderie during their time together in Istanbul and the latter has suggested that his teammate is comfortable with the Black Eagles, he added: “Babel is my good friend, and he is happy, as far as I know, in Beşiktaş.Babel is strong, fast, has a good shot … sometimes he can win a match on his own.The quality of the Turkish League is much higher than Brazil.”

Tosun only joined Everton from Besiktas during the winter transfer window and he struggled to find his feet during first four games in the Premier League. Thereafter, the Turk had a warm weather training session in Dubai, which benefited him greatly, and he ended the campaign with eight goals from the remaining nine matches in which he featured.

At present, the 27-year-old is participating in the Toffees’ pre-season under new boss Marco Silva and he will be hoping to start the next campaign on a bright note, considering Everton have been offered a relatively easier beginning to the season as compared to some of their rivals. The Merseyside outfit have yet to make any addition to the squad for the summer.
